My Solid Foundation Began at St. Margaret Mary School!

As an alumnus of St. Margaret Mary School, I am very appreciative of the solid foundation it laid for my educational advancement over the years.  Perhaps I am even prouder of the lofty view of the world I have credited to the high values and idealism drilled into me by my Catholic School education!

As County Commissioner for Precinct Four here in Bexar County, a practicing attorney, a former member of the Texas House of Representatives and having been involved in the community since I was 19, I know that my educational foundation laid at St. Margaret Mary and later at St. Gerard High played a critical role in any success I have experienced.

Recently I have had the pleasure of serving on the School Council (formerly School Board).  I have been especially pleased to see the progress, especially with the brand new IMAC computer lab.  And, we have only just begun down the road to progress.  I am excited about the heightened role which the laity must play in the development of today's Catholic Schools.  After all, we are the Church!

I look forward to developing the 2012 Scholarship Dinner around the end of January when we typically celebrate Catholic Schools Week.  If you would like to help bolster the school and put this Dinner together, please contact us.  I am at (210) 531-9491 (Adkisson Law Office and Fidelity Title Office) or e-mail me at tadkisson@gmail.com.

"I have been a St. Margaret Mary School Council member for 8 years.  My service began from 1998-2003.  I took a short break and joined the Council again 2006 to the present.  While a Council member I have held the position of President for two years and the Financial Officer for six years. It has been a pleasure to serve St. Margaret Mary and the community.

I have two children that attended St. Margaret Mary School.  My daughter, Clarissa, attended the school from Kinder to 8th grade.  She graduated in 2003.  Currently she is attending the University of Texas at Austin.  She made the Dean’s List and will be a Junior this fall.  My son, Sean, attended St Margaret Mary from Kinder to 8th Grade. He graduated from the school in 2007.  Currently he is attending East Central High School and will be a junior this fall."

Thanks for the Memories
Sincerely Mr. Ralph Rendon,
SMM Council Finance Officer

"To date we are happy to say we have invested 13 years with St. Margaret
Mary School with our oldest continuing her education at Providence High
School. We chose the school originally for it's location to family,
home and work.

Our daughter's happiness and academic challenges have been built on the
foundation of St. Margaret Mary School values. We are seeing both our
girls grow in spirit with the church because of the school; Victoria's
choice to be an Altar Server and Sara's interest in the Youth Ministry
organization and activities.

St. Margaret Mary School is unique, the friendly and long term faculty
and staff share in the same goals and values that the church has formed
for the community.

No one is made to feel left out unless it is their decision not to be
part of the growth and well being of the school. Our family and
extended family have happily committed many hours at the school and
enjoy the slow but definite progress we have seen at the school and on
the grounds."
